October 31st, 2008 x=vv= No comments

Introduction
The Sysinternals Troubleshooting Utilities have been rolled up into a single Suite of tools. This file contains the individual troubleshooting tools and help files. It does not contain non-troubleshooting tools like the BSOD Screen Saver or NotMyFault.

The Suite is a bundling of the following selected Sysinternals Utilities:

AccessChk: This tool shows you the accesses the user or group you specify has to files, Registry keys or Windows services.
AccessEnum: This simple yet powerful security tool shows you who has what access to directories, files and Registry keys on your systems. Use it to find holes in your permissions.
AdExplorer: Active Directory Explorer is an advanced Active Directory (AD) viewer and editor.
AdInsight: An LDAP (Light-weight Directory Access Protocol) real-time monitoring tool aimed at troubleshooting Active Directory client applications.
AdRestore: Undelete Server 2003 Active Directory objects.
Autologon: Bypass password screen during logon.

Picture Resizer

October 28th, 2008 x=vv= No comments

Picture Resizer is another free tool for batch resizing of JPG pictures and photos. It’s very easy to use:

  1. Drag and drop JPG files or folders with JPG files on the application icon.
  2. The tool will resize JPG images and save them next to the originals. Names of the new pictures will be based on the original names, with a suffix indicating their size. For example, the resized version of MyPhoto.jpg will be called MyPhoto-400.jpg, where the number 400 indicates the size of the picture.

Drag it and that’s all! Cool isn’t it?

Firstly I found that EXIF tags are missing after conversion. Well, this is no more an issue: in order to copy metadata (including EXIF tags) to the resized file, simply append a M – PhotoResize400M.exe – at the end of file name. That all and enjoy it.

Current version is 3.0.

Free MMS Stream Download – Streaming Download Project (SDP)

October 28th, 2008 x=vv= No comments

Streaming Download Project – SDP is designed to download Windows Media files and Windows Media live streams as they are sent over an Internet or network connection. SDP handles MMS over TCP/UDP and HTTP 1.0 streaming protocols.

It’s FREE and I found it very convenient to use. Schedule download is also supported. I’m using it to download my favorite Discovery TV program that is broadcasting in NUS campus, especially those I’m gonna miss out ^_^.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.1 Final

October 26th, 2008 x=vv= No comments

Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom™ software is the professional photographer’s essential toolbox, providing one easy application for managing, adjusting, and presenting large volumes of digital photographs so you can spend less time in front of the computer and more time behind the lens. So you can spend less time sorting and refining photographs, and more time actually shooting them. Its clean, elegant interface literally steps out of the way and lets you quickly view and work with the images you shot today, as well as the thousands of images that you will shoot over the course of your career. Because no two photographers work alike, Adobe Lightroom adapts to your workflow, not the other way around.

Lightroom lets you view, zoom in, and compare photographs quickly and easily. Precise, photography-specific adjustments allow you to fine tune your images while maintaining the highest level of image quality from capture through output. And best of all, it runs on most commonly used computers, even notebook computers used on location.

New Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 2 helps you sort and find the photos you want faster, target specific photo areas for more precise adjustments, and showcase your talent using more flexible printing templates. A host of other new features and enhancements make Lightroom 2 an essential upgrade for professional photographers.

Google Chrome 0.3.154.6

October 26th, 2008 x=vv= No comments

Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Google Chrome also uses a brand new javascript engine (V8), which is much faster than existing javascript interpreters. This means you can create more complex and more intensive AJAX applications with fewer speed and processing constraints. Finally, Google Chrome is built on top of WebKit, so Google Chrome users will benefit from the CSS3 features being added to WebKit as those features are released.
